"ENERGETIC, AWESOME, EDGY AND LOUD" Jo Whiley - Radio 1
“One of the best bands around” Dan Garrett - BBC
"Decora...a bit better than us!" Jamie Lenman (Reuben)
DECORA are: Nick Weston (Vocals & Guitar) Doug North (Guitars & Vocals)
Sam Tarling (Bass & Vocals) Dan Carroll (Drums)
Four friends from the depths of rural Wiltshire with a penchant for shit-kicking riffery.
In between gainful employment at the local prison where 3 of 4 members work to keep the van full of juice and the strings bright and new, Decora are on the way to becoming one of the best known rock bands in the South West.
This March saw the release of the band’s first official single on all major download stores through the world’s leading independent digital distributor, The Orchard, and a 14 date promotional tour, taking in an array of venues along the M3/M4 corridor that has become their home these last two years.
After a weekend off to catch their breath the band were back at work in the studio recording the follow up with Jason Wilcock who was responsible for Reuben’s debut album and is currently handling demo duties for Universal.
100% self financed and organised, their strong DIY work ethic has seen them travel the length and breadth of the country taking in venus such as Camden’s Dublin Castle, The Hoxton Square Bar and Grill in Shoreditch, The Fleece and Louisina in Bristol, Moles Club in Bath, Redruth’s Green Rooms, Josephs Well in Leeds, The Waterfront in Norwich, The Bullingdon Arms in Oxford, The Jailhouse in Coventry and The Phoenix in Plymouth and share stages with the likes of Reuben, Kill Kenada, tBr:gade, Enjoy Destroy, and Exit Ten.
In the meanwhile they will be appearing on volume 8 of the “Kill Your Management” compilation cd, courtesy of psychophonic records. Decora’s determined DIY work ethic has seen them play over 200 gigs to date including a festival appearance at Guilfest 2006.
Receiving radio play from BBC Wiltshire and underground music stalwarts such Total Rock and Pulse Unsigned, along with airings from as far a field as the Serbian alternative radio station Breaking the Silence, Decora have recently topped the charts of cult web-zine Subba-Cultcha.
Top photographer Alyson Blanchard recently worked with the band and has snapped the likes of, amongst others, Liam Gallagher, Kasabian, and Green Day.
Press for the EP: "its hard not to be drawn in to ingeniously constructed cuts like Louise, So Long Farewell and I Will. Given a top flight producer theres nothing to stop this lot taking on the likes of Funeral For A Friend and coming out on top". - Johnny Black, Mojo, Q.
"If the band don't get a major deal on the back of this then there's really something wrong woth the world today" - Jeremy Chick, Subba Cultcha Webzine
Muchos Gracias to the folks and Strings and Things for putting us in the way of all this good shit...
